I’m not sure that I know how to separate the behavior from the person (I need to work on that). The type of love that I am referring to is unconditional. Nothing you can do would make me stop loving you. But, there are a trillion reasons why I may not like you, today! “Like” is situational in nature. It comes and goes.

Not liking someone can manifest itself in many ways. Maybe I can’t talk to you right now or maybe we need some space.

Please explain when you say “You gotta love em,” but you don’t have to like them. What differentiates the two (love and like)? And, Are you referring to your child the person or their behavior?
